Bytejacker – Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime Review
We’re taking a look at the latest cash-in on a popular license, Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime. More like “Sanctum of Suck,” AMIRITE? DO UC WUT I DID THER? PS3/Xbox 360/PC, Shooter, Atari, $9.99 All right! A Ghostbusters game! Wait, didn’t we just GET a Ghostbusters game? It was pretty decent, too. Had the original cast, was written by Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd‚Ķ what’s this one doing differently? Oh, taking all that away? And making it a generic, top-down, twin-stick shooter? Oh. Okay. I mean, if you’ve got the license, use it, I suppose. Atari’s got mouths to feed. #3 — Second Person Shooter Zato — Unity, Shooter, himoji, indiegam.es #2 — Interlocked — Flash, Puzzle, We Create Stuff, indiegam.es #1 — Cardboard Box Assembler — Flash, Platformer, Miguel Angel Perez Martinez and Fernando Ramallo, indiegam.es Balloon Diaspora — Mac/PC, Adventure, Cardboard Computer — indiegam.es BlockShooter — PC, Shooter, Milk Corporation — indiegam.es Transmover New Generation — Flash, Platformer, G-Men — indiegam.es Remember, we’re going to three videos a week next week! @bytejacker ghostbusters are not lazy they work there ass’s off
@jetflock
No, the old game was good. This one fucking sucks.
It’s buggy, stuff is repeated, the difficulty can be ridiculous, the gameplay sucks. It’s literally mirrored to make it twice as long, and the “cutscenes” are long, and hard to read.
They also got the Proton Pack sound wrong. They have the assets from the first game, they reuse a ton of it, but they couldn’t use the correct sound for the Proton Pack.
And if you have the pc version, they removed the online multiplayer.
@bytejacker
only because it is what it is. a cheap game thats simple like the arcade game. i like to play it when i’m bored. alot of reviewers tend to only like mainstream games with bells and whistles and 1000 people working on it. granted its got problems like the cutscenes being long, and the characters are a bit lame, otherwise its neat. I downloaded it because it reminded me of the old arcade game, which i still like better than the fancy new one that came out. no hard feelings meant.
@jetflock Biased? As in I have some long-standing prejudice against Ghostbusters in some way? I’ll admit to one bias: I am strongly against lazy, license-based shovelware.
this wasn’t a bad game…its just like the old arcade one. the review is a bit biased.
NARWALL!!!!
SO MUCH MOVING AROUND
free indeh rapid phiya
10 minutes? I think we’ll actually end up with a lot more content with the episodes split up like this.
@cymonsgames Is this some subtle hint that Anthony is too polite to say he doesn’t like that nickname?
@TrueSoreThumb Who the heck is “Tony”?
Woah wait a minute did that Audible commercial just replace Anthony screaming FREE INDIE RAPIDFIRE?
This is an outrage!
I have no idea what’s going on what with the studio and such, I much preferred the older episodes any way so I don’t really mind going back to that formula a bit or whatever is going on…
On another note, the review in this episode is probably my favourite Bytejacker review yet. I love a bit of cynicism instead of the regular happy-go-lucky feel of Bytejacker reviews.
DID YOU EAT THAT NARWHAL AT THE BEGINNING?!
@bytejacker Damn it! There’s always a catch to everything.
@TheLuciusLaw I’d still like to have a studio space for things like guest interviews and the weeks where we’ve got awful weather here (it rains a lot), but it’d be nice to have our own set instead of borrowing one from other shows. Something that matched the Bytejacker vibe, you know?
Finally leaving the ugly studio! (although its hard not to love a narwhale made of bacon)
By the way… Tara Sooo won the card match. I mean come on… She argued her point so well. Even though I thought you were right about punchout, its all about the presentation of your argument. Next time I’d like to see you dance around her with charlie sheen wordsmithery.
@ZetaPlays Yeah, those were good times.
@Metalpaladin Yes, it actually is. But we’re going to try.
@B6ka I liked Cardboard Box Assembler most – but I will say that I, too, dug Interlocked more than SPSZ. I thought Zato had a cool concept and was really interesting, but Interlocked held my interest more. Though just like everyone else, I couldn’t quite say why.
@DanielBoa My mom agrees with you.
@KIDcanFLY Blink back those tears, little buddy – this point of this whole episode is that we’re NOT going to be in the studio anymore.
@Irockman1 Bad news: in order to get permission to leave the studio, I had to agree to always be in a business suit.
@TheMegagamer530 Can’t promise that – Jon and I were always lucky enough to live in places with roof access. If you look at last week’s videos, though, you can see we’re definitely going to be out and about.
will you start doing the videos on the roof like you did with jon a long time back
